GLENN KARDY is the editor of several volumes in the renowned How to Draw Manga series of art-instruction guides, including Getting Started, the first book of its kind to be used at major universities in both the United States (UCLA) and Japan (Waseda). Glenn lives in the Tokyo suburb of Kawaguchi City with his wife, their daughter and a collection of Oakland A's bobblehead dolls.
CHIHIRO HATTORI, niece of legendary manga artist Eiichi Fukui, was a graphics designer at Tokyo-based TechnoArt before turning her attention full-time to her manga career. Chihiro and her husband live in Yokohama, where they enjoy fine food, fast cars and high fashion.

The Golden Rule: "Left to Right,Top to Bottom"
. Horizontal strokes = left to right and parallel to one another
2.Vertical/slanting strokes = top to bottom
3. Hook strokes =Top left to right and turn to the bonom
4. Center strokes first then slanting left and right strokes
5. Outside strokes before inside strokes (but bottom stroke last)
6. Crisscross strokes = horizontal strokes first, vertical strokes second
7. Diagonal strokes = Left-hand first right-hand second
