Explore the world of a scientist with this reference bulletin board.Coverthe board with yellow background paper. Use an overhead projector to enlarge the scientist pattern (page 98). Color, cut out, and attach the pattern to the center of the board. Provide students with sentence strips to write the things a scientist does. Let students draw and cut out illustrations for each statement. Post the descriptions and pictures around the scientist.

Young stargazers will love viewing the solar system. Cover the board with dark blue paper. Enlarge, color, and cut out the sun with telescope pattern (page 97). Post the sun on the left edge of the board. Cut various sizes of circles and color them to represent each of the nine planets. Attach the planets to the display and label each. Show their orbits by drawing the path with chalk. Create an asteroid belt by tearing paper shapes and attaching them in a linę across the board. Accent the display with gold foil stars.
