Pfkb Increase: Purl into front, then knit into back of same st—1 st inc’d.

Kfpb Increase: Knit into front, then purl into back of same st—1 st inc’d.

Sloped Bind-Off (underarm and neck shaping): On the row before BO, work to

last st, turn—1 unworked st on right needle. BO row: SI 1 pwise, psso (unworked st over

slipped st). BO rem sts in the usual manner. Notę: This techniąue will eliminate “stair

steps” along the shaped edge when working multiple sets of BOs.

NOTES

♦    Body is worked in the round to placket opening, then worked back and forth in rows to underarms; back and fronts are worked separately to shoulders. Sleeves are worked in rows. The front placket is edged with crochet and laced with a length of twisted cord.

♦    The instructions contain an ending row number for the layette stitch pattern, in order to maintain pattern while working shaping and shoulder bind-off. To lengthen or shorten the upper body, add or remove complete eight-row pattern repeats below underarm and on sleeve before working sleeve cap.

♦    While shaping, to keep stitch count consistent, do not work yarnover (increase) if there are not enough stitches to work compensating decrease. Work the stitches in stockinette instead.

BODY

With largest needle, CO 200 (224, 248) sts (see Notes). Place marker (pm) and join in the rnd. Work in 2x2 rib until piece measures 3" from CO. Change to middle-size needle and cont in rib until piece measures 1014" from CO and at the same time, on last rnd of rib, work 51 (55, 63) sts, pm for center front (between 2 purl sts; see Layette Stitch chart), work to end; remove beg-of-rnd m and cut yarn.
