On certain engines a damper valvc must be fitted to the rod attached to the black top-cap of the carburettor. The valve ports will be found packed with the inlet manifold adaptors ond should be assembled as shown in Diagram 2.
Settings for main engine types:-
1200 (34 HP-DIN, 40 HP-SAE). Needle9X. Damper valve in.
1300 (40 HP-DIN, 50 HP-SAE). Needle 5E. Damper valve in.
1350 (1200 with Big-Bore Kit). " " No damper valve‘
'Settings for this and other non-standard specifications must be ordered separately, giving fuli particulars of engine.
With components in position
as in Photos 5 & 6 assemble carburettor to manifold using gasket, plain and spring washers and 5/16" UNF nuts provided. Fit air cleanerand steady piąte to carburettor, fitting one paper gasket each side of piąte. Do not tighten air cleaner bolts. Assemble oppositc carburettor, manifold etc. in similar manner.
FITTING CHOKE-CABLE ETC. (Diagram 3. Photos 7 & 8).
9. Remove trim from front luggage compartment. Mark dash panel and drill
g" dia. hole in position similar to ignition switch but on opposite side of ashtray. Pass cables through dash into luggage compartment and secure knob assembly to dash .
NOTĘ: Care must be taken in fitting cables. Any severe bends or "kinks"
produced in fitting will cause unsatisfactory operation.
Drill two 2" dia. holes in conpartment floor as shown in Diagram 3 and Photo 7, which shows front-hood view ot RHD drive car, and fit with grommets supplied. Holes to be positioned approximately i" back from rear edge of fuel tank, and will necessitate pulling back carpets from foot board. Pass one cable through each hole into interior of car. Run cables behind footboard carpet and to rear of car, one cable each side of control tunnel (On drivers side, the choke cable passes behind the pedał cluster but care in positioning is essential). Run cables under rear seat and out of passenger compartment using either existing holes, (i .e . battery cable or brake pipę) or if unsuitobie drill 2 - dia. holes and fit with grommets. Drill 1 - i" dia. hole in each of the two lower corners of the front wali of engine compartment. Pass one cable through each hole into engine compartment. (Photo 8).
