go about it and willi the guidance of a compelenl instructor, you can make a new person of yourself in a few montbs’ time.
Progressiy© esercising is the only way to get resulls ąuickly. By progTcssive exercising I mean to inerease the tension or resistance morę and morę as you become stronger, and by so doing you can obtain your niaximum dcvelopment. It may not feel like play at first, but it won*t be long before you acquirc a vast interest in your work and then you will find pleasure in doing it, especially when you begin to sec results.
In exercising, the tension or resistance should be heavy enough to give you real exercise. A few good vigorous and straining niovemcnts will do you a great deal morę good than a hundred light ones. This is not a theory but based on personal experience.
I only wish I knew as much about physical culture when I first started exercising as I do today. I would have saved a great amount of energy and time if I had; and all my pupits who are following my system arc profiling by my experience.
When first I desired to become strong. I had no one to teacli me and tell me what kind of cxercises to do, so 1 stood in front of a mirror and looked myself over and tried to plan out a system to follow so I could build myself up, for I wTas thin—so painfully tłiin, I could count cvcry rib without taking a decp brcath to expand. My schoolmates used to cali me “Skinny” and it would hurt my feelings, for I was always very sensitive as a boy. Finally after a lot of experimenting and wasting of time I at last gol started on a system of my own which I gradually improved upon each dav, and tben I maue up my mind 1 would be an atblete in every sense of the word. and I am glad to say I have succeeded far better than I ever expected.
Anothcr impi>rtant fact to remember if you are desirous of obtaining a good development is this:
It is far better to exercise a few minules each day and do heavy, vigorous movements tlian to waste an hour of your time doing light exercises. If you do light work only, your muscles will be built for light work only and will not inerease in size to any cxtcnt. They will have endurance, it is true. but when put to a real test as in lifting, or in any form of competi-tion where great strength is required, they will be found wanting. Of course light exercises are better than nonę at all and may bring healtb and fair blood circula-
