PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT, was a man of astonishing vitality. His wide rangę of interests and enthusiasms, included a passion for physical and mental exercise. He considered the sport of Judo to be an admirable blend of body-mind activity. In 1903, only 11 years after Judo was introduced to the world by Dr. Kano, President Roosevelt madę the East Room of the White House the first Judo gym in the United States.
