Hach ring has 7ds, sm p, 7ds. RW. Chain 8ds, sccd pcarl, 8ds, shuctle join to che sm p of che preceding ring. RW. When you havc tatted the length you need, create a circlc by making a shunlc/lock join to first ring. Do noc end off. Rcversc your work so che pearls arc on the bonom. Any spare pearls may be Icfr on rhe bali rhread umil che end of Row 2.
Row 2: This row is enrircly chain with lock joins inro the picots of Row 1. Chain 3ds, sm p/join, 4dS, p, 4ds, p, 4ds, sm p, 3ds. Whcn this row is completc, end off. Rcmove the remaining sccd pearls of Row 1.
Row 3: Two shunlcs will be nceded herc for the Split rings. Refcr to Split Ring on pagc 19. Sh.l will join onto Row 2 and Sh.2 will posirion the pearls. On Sh.2 srring as many sccd pearls as you uscd for Row I. Ar rangę the lace upside down so that the pearls of Row I arc uppermost and the picots of Row 2 arc jusr

jbove wherc you will bc tatting with Sh.l. Tat this row in pairs of rings so chat the positions of the pearls and the picots rcvcrsc order. Sluittle U 4ds, join to sccond p of one chain. 3ds, join to first p of next chain, 4ds. Sbuttle 2 in WWT: 4ds, slidc a pearl into place jusr as you would for a chain, 3ds, p, 4ds. On the following ring change the positions of the pearl and the picot. Continuc rnaking Split rings around the row. End off by joining to the first ring.
Row 4: Two shuttles will be necdcd herc, too. Sh.2 will becomc (hc bali chrentl for the chains, and will also form the smali rings on top of the chains, so nil sced pearls will go on Sh.2. You will rcquirc as many as you used in Row 1 plus half as many again. Refer to Mcthods 2 and 1 on pages 16 and 17 for bcads on chains and on rings. Using Sh.l, join the large rings to the free picots of caeh pair of split rings of Row 3. This forms a clovcr effect.

Tat a ring of 6ds, pearl, 6ds. Change shuttles. Sbuttle l: Chain 5ds, pearl, 5ds, sm p, 3ds. RW. Continuc partern, joining to cach pair of picots in Row 3. Whcn finished, end off.
With a transparent sewing thread attach the lace to the covcred metal ring beforc applying the sriffening medium. This will ensurc the lace retains its size despite any shrinkage of the cotton. Shape the coroncr, being careful to wipe any liąuid off the pearls. Allow ir to dry in a dust-frec environment.
