Readers have to use their imagination and create their own images of people, clothes, sceneiy etc.

Viewers are offered ready-made images created b\ the director/director of photography.

It is sometimes difficult to imagine a place one has never seen.

Thanks to technology anything can be shown, e.g. scenes in science-fiction films.

Books include longish descriptions of places and events.

A lot can be shown in just one shot which is a few seconds long.

It usually takes a Iong time to read a book and it is necessary to stop reading a few times.

Very few films are longer than two hours.

A number of different plots and characters are presented and readers can follow all of them or choose some only.

The director chooses only some plots and characte to be explored to support the main ideas.

Readers usually know precisely what the characters think and why they behave like they do.

Viewers see characters’ behaviour and have to dra1 conclusions about their thoughts.
