You will need three 8'A" dia. wooden plates; 'A" drill bit and drill; primer; black, blue, gold. green. light green, pink, red. white. and yellow acrylic paints; paintbrushes; black permanent fine-point pen; border stickers; 17* yds of l"w black grosgrain ribbon; craft glue; transfer paper; tracing paper; elear acrylic scaler; and Mary Engelbreit pre-pasted wallpaper cutouts.
I Drill two holes on opposite sides of each piąte.
2. Read Preparing to Paint and Painting, page 93. Prime, then paint piąte centers white and rims yellow. fóint outside edges black.
3. Read Transferring Patterns. page 94. For first piąte, tracę, then transfer diamond pattern, page 28. to rim of piąte.
i Read Painting Designs, pages 93-94. Paint diamonds blue; paint center stripes white. Add a black dot between each diamond. Paint flowers red; highlight with pink. Paint flower centers gold. Paint leaves green; highlight with light green. Outline flowers, diamonds, and stripes with permanent pen.
5. For second piąte, add red dots to rim.
6. For third piąte, tracę, then transfer plaid pattern, page 29, to rim. Paint center stripe along rim and alternate short stripes green. Dot centers of intersecting squares with yellow.
7. Adhere a wallpaper cutout to the center of each piąte just below one of the drilled holes. Add border stickers to rim of each piąte, cutting stickers into short iengths to follow curved edges of piąte. Apply sealer
to plates.
S.Cut a 42" length of ribbon. Leaving 7" of ribbon above piąte, thread one end through first piąte front to back. Continue threading ribbon through drilled holes until you get to the last hole on the bottom piąte. Knot ribbon 4" from end; cut a notch in end.
Glue ribbon to back of each piąte. Make a 3'A" loop from ribbon above top piąte; fold ribbon to the back and glue. Tie a bow with remaining ribbon. Notch ends and glue bow to ribbon loop above top piąte.
You will need a wooden stool; spray primer; black, brown, gold, green, light brown, and white acrylic paints; paintbrushes; black permanent fine-point pen; 1" fiat brush; elear acrylic sealer; transfer paper; and tracing paper.
1 Read Preparing to Paint and Painting. page 93. Prime stool, then paint legs black.
2. Read Sizing Patterns and Transferring Patterns,
page 94. Eliminate leaves and bee from sunflower pattern on page 28 and size to fit stool. Tracę, then transfer bee pattern on page 28 and sized sunflower pattern onto stool. Paint edge of seat black; paint black around flower and bee designs.
3. Read Painting Designs, pages 93 94. Paint sunflower petals gold; highlight and add center veins with light brown. Paint center of sunflower brown; highlight in a circular swirl pattern with light brown.
Add white and black dots. Outline sunflower center and petals with permanent pen.
4. Paint bee body gold; paint stripes and eyes black. Paint wings white. Outline bee with permanent pen.
5. Add green dots around sunflower. Use 1" fiat brush to paint white stripes on side of stool.
6. Apply sealer to stool.
You will need a 54" long white table runner; 20" square white cotton napkins; black, blue, brown, dark green, gold, green, light blue, light brown. light green, light purple, orange, peach. pink, purple, red. white. and yellow acrylic paints; textile medium; paintbrushes; 7»" and 'A" fiat brushes; black permanent fine-point pen,- iron-on transfer pen; and tracing paper.
1. Measure in 7<" around edges of table runner; mark with a pencil. Mark another linę 7*" from first. On napkin, measure in '/ż" from one corner; mark with
a pencil. Mark another linę 'A" from first
2. For table runner. tracę patterns on pages 28-29 onto tracing paper. For napkin, photocopy sunflower pattern at 65% to reduce, then tracę onto tracing paper.
3. Tum tracing paper ovcr and lightly retrace each design on the wrong side with iron-on transfer pen. Place each pattern, ink side down, on table runner or napkin as desired. Iron patterns onto table runner and napkins.
4. Read Painting Designs, pages 93-94. Mix textile medium and paint in equal amounts before beginning.
5. Use 7'«" fiat brush to make checkerboard pattern on table runner, using marked lines as guides and adjusting pattern as necessary at the corners so that both tips of the table runner will have black squares.
6. Use the 7?" fiat brush to paint a checkerboard pattern in one corner of each napkin. using the marked lines as guides.
7. Read Steps 3-4 of Sunflower Stool to paint sunflower and bee. Paint remaining designs as desired. Outline with permanent pen.
