Bargello is a celebration of pattern and color yet, morę than anything else, color defines the character of the needlework. While each pattern has a distinct effect, color is the factor that blends them together. The Gypsy Carpet Bag expresses this relationship between pattern and color. Here, colors vary not only in intensity and hue, but also in degrees of warmth and coolness.

The ability of brown to reveal warmth as well as coolness makes it a superb foil against forceful, exotic and vibrant colors, hues that are otherwise difficult to match.
