at tarmers’ markets and at the farm gate. The growing season in Scodand is short and I needed something to do to fili in the dme between September and April. so I took up embroidery and sold bags, cushions. doorstops and so on. Since then the sewing side of the business has grown faster than the flowers. and when I started supphing my sdtched work Wholesale to shops lt moved out of the kitchen and into its own premises!"
Snapdragon now has a team of tour working to make the beaudfiil gifts that werc all sighingover. The rangę can be fbund on some of the best ‘handmade’ retail websites including Lasso The Moon. Cherry Picked For You, and Not On The High Street.
One of the things Jane loves most about being a professional maker is the camaraderie with other crafty people. “One of the manyjoys of the internet is connecdng with so many creaove people and being part of a community there. Twitter in particular has a wonderfulły
acdve crafdng community ofloveły folk who are ałways happy to help out.*’
And it s not many people who get to travel all over the country to ciait events and shows as pan of their job. Jane has lots of these in her diary everv vear. and loves to mix and mrngle with other crafters. “My best ever moment was taking a trade stand at the Top Drawer Trade show in London in 2008. aiter a spur-ot-che-moment decision to give wholesaling a go. Despite being tembły unprepared and having a stand nght at the back of the hall. I got an amazing response from buyers and came back with a tuli order book."
At the moment Jane is busy workmg on a brand new collection to be launched in August. She can t say much about it at the moment, but we’ll deńmteły be tirsr in the queue to see when the dme comes!

The best piece of advtce I was ever gtven came from Kaffe Fassett.
Back m the rmd I980s. just after he pubkshed Gtorious Knitting, I went to see him talk several dmes. His message was to not worry about what the back of a piece łooked like and I found that irtcredibły freetng.
