Pewter

Clean pewter with a pastę of salt, vinegar. and flour.

Stainless Steel

To clean, rub with a pastę of baking soda and water. Rub olive oil onto stainless Steel surfaces to remove streaks and prints.

Gold

Clean gold with toothpaste.

Silver

Use toothpaste instead of toxic silver cleaner to clean and brighten even your best silver. Use an old soft bristled toothbrush and warm water.

Silver can be polished by boiling it in a pan lined with aluminium foil and filled with water to which a teaspoon each of baking soda and salt have been added.

To clean silver. use a pastę of 3 parts baking soda to one part water. Rub the pastę onto each item, then rinse with warm water and dry with a soft cloth.

When a quick dip for silverware is needed, prepare a solution of baking soda in tepid-cool water (I level teaspoon to 1.2ltrs/2 pints) and brush with a soft toothbrush.

Moisture Problems

Mould and mildew thrive in moist, warm areas. To keep these areas under control place out bowls of unscented kitty litter to absorb the moisture. Replace these once a week. To treat areas affected by mould consider using the General Tea Tree Oil Spray listed in the Recipes chapter.

To remedy mildew in books. place some cornstarch in a sprinkle Container and sprinkle the cornstarch onto the pages lightly. Let it sit for a few hours and then wipe and shake clean.
