Drawing For Real! Parts of the Face and Position
4. The position for the nostrils is marked on the linę for the bridge of the nose. The eyes are drawn on this linę and their size roughly estimated. The generał rule is that the lower the position of the eyes, the morę childish the face (See the drawing below).
5. Above the linę that decides the height of the eyes draw another linę to decide the size of the ears. The height of the ears is about where the frame of a pair of glasses would sit. Normally the position for the corner of the eyes is about where the root of the ear is. But the morę you get used to it, the morę you can play around with the positioning to make morę exaggerated characters.
6. The outline between the eyebrow linę and the eye linę hollows out. This makes the depressions for the eyes. Mistakes are often madę at this point. Even those people who are fairly good at drawing end up drawing the base of the nose from the eye linę. Have a look at the bridge of your nose in the mirror. See how it starts between the eyebrows, depresses in between the eyes, and then sticks out.
