Activity 7.1
Language Focus: Idioms.
Skills Focus: Vocabulary
Time (approx): 10 minutes
Preparation: Photocopy Worksheet 7 for each pair of students.
Procedure
Write the phrase As _______ as a _______ on the board. Ask your students if they can suggest any ways to
complete it.
Now ask your students to get into pairs, and give each pair a copy of Worksheet 7.
Ask the students to work together to complete the list of idiomatic similes on their worksheet.
Monitor, then check and discuss the answers as a class. (You might discuss whether there are similar idioms in the
students L1.)
