Ceł zajęć	Course description and aims: The course aims at analysing the basie concepts of linguistics from the socio-cultural and contrastive perspectives. The approach shall be highly interdisciplinary and special emphasis shall be laid on the dynamics of the process of communication. Relations between basie areas of linguistic analysis: syntax, semantics, phonetics, phonology, pragmatics and sociolinguistics will be under scrutiny. The course should allow the students to get a deeper insight into the naturę of linguistic interactions in their multiple rangę: starting from simple elements of a discourse, through complex cross-cultural speech events to the processes of foreign language acąuisition and implications for foreign language teaching. We shall deal mostly with the theoretical aspects of linguistics with some reference to contrastive analysis, which allows to compare the differences in structural and contextual aspects of various languages. The course shall also highlight in morę detail the social, cultural and psychological approaches to language, its acquisition and intercultural use.
