The aim of the subject is presentation of digital image analysis and processing. Typical sources of digital images are: industrial and surveillance cameras, endoscopes, pictures from microscopes, pictures from planes and from outer space, visual Systems of robots, thermovisual cameras, computed tomography, movies and others.
Discussed topics concem acquisition systems for digital pictures and their drawbacks; image improvement methods: distortion correction, denoising and super-resolution, image segmentation, image registration and compression. Detailed rangę of topics is as follows:
1. Vision systems. Digital images.
2. Discrete 2D transforms: DFT, DCT, Wavelet Transform.
3. Digital 2D and 3D filters.
4. Morphological operations.
5. Image segmentation.
6. Geometrical transformation.
7. Image registration.
8. Image enhancement restoration and super-resolution.
9. Image compression.
10. Computed tomography. Radon Transform, Fourier Slice Theorem.
The result of the lecture and laboratory is knowledge about main problems of digital image analysis and processing that enables designing of algorithms for vision systems.
