The purpose of this paper is to identify and characterise the main types of or-ganised crime threatening economic security. This type of criminal activity has a large-scale character and can be a threat to democracy and internal security of a State.
Crimes that threaten economic security are among the most sophisticated and the most difficult to detect, because they are usually committed under the guise of legality. The duty of every State is to care for its economic and financial security. For this reason, the State is obliged to create such mechanisms that will pro-tect the country and its citizens against criminal organisations threatening, in particular, their economic security.
Strengthening the mechanisms for counteracting and combating this form of crime is not only an integrated approach that implies deepening the coopera-tion between institutions, services and national authorities involved in combating crimes, but it also requjres a close cooperation with international institutions.
Key words: organised criminal groups, economic crime, corruption, economic security
