The test lasts approximately 35 minutes. In Task 1 texts are played once. In Tasks 2 and 3 texts are played twice. Candidates are given instructions in Polish before the start of the test. In the recording, each task is preceded by the instructions given in English and no examples are provided. The instructions are followed by a pause to allow candidates to read the questions. At the end of the test there is a pause of 4 minutes to allow candidates to transfer their answers to the answer sheets. Recordings may contain a variety of native speaker and non-native speaker accents.
Marking
Candidates are awarded one mark for each correct answer in all parts of the test and they have to score 14 out of 20 points to pass the listening test. In Tasks 1 and 2 candidates are asked to indicate answers by circling one letter, whereas in Task 3 they complete the sentences. Grammatical mistakes and incorrect spelling not impeding understanding are not penalised.
