PI. What do you know about Christmas? (Cjiaud 3)
Christmas is childreiTs favourite holiday. This holiday is ce-lebrated at home. Santa Claus with a white beard and a red suit comes into the house at night and leaves gifts for children. in stockings on Christmas Eve. However, the gifts are not usually opened until the following afternoon. Children leave an empty stocking or pillowcase hanging at the end of the bed. In the morning they hope it will be fuli of presents.
P2. Santa Claus is based on a real person, St. Nicholas.
St. Nicholas was a very shy man and wanted to give money to poor people without them knowing about it. It is said that one day, he climbed the roof of a house and dropped a purse of money down the chimney. It landed in the stocking which a girl had put to dry by the fire! This may explain the belief that Father Christmas comes down the chimney and places gifts in childreiTs stockings.
