CASA C-295M).
The perspectives of development of digital recording systems and universal flight data decoding system - an Objective Records Analysis (ORA)
Abstract
Digital flight data recording systems were designed and implemented at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). Data, which are recorded at the recorder me-mory, is decoded and analysed to evaluate the flight techniąue and technical State of aircraft systems. In the case of an accident, these data is a base for investigations, whose goal is to explain the reason of the accident or crash.
The operational/crash flight data recording system S2-3a was designed at the Division for Aeroplanes and Helicopters of AFIT. The measuring sensors, which are mounted at the airframe are connected to an acąuision unit. This unit converts analog signals to a digital form, which is next recordered at the memory of both ąuick access and crash cartridges.
The S2-3a system is used to record flight data of the following airplanes: TS-11 "Iskra”, M28 "Bryza” and PZL-130 TC-II "Orlik” and for Mi-8, Mi-14, Mi-17, Mi-24, SW-4 i W-3 helicopters.
The universal flight parameters decoding system (ORA) was implemented in 2004. It is used to decode and analise flight data recorded at the memory of the S2-3a system and other aircraft digital recording systems.
Characteristics of digital flight data recording systems will be presented in the paper. These systems are used on board of various types of aircrafts. The development perspectives and possibilities to apply the S2-3a system at different types of aircrafts will be analysed. The perspectives of the ORA system developing for maintenance of other aircrafts will also be presented.
