As of the 1 May 2004 the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has been running a programme entitled PDŻ - Try Fine Food. The main objective of PDŻ - Try Fine Food pro-gramme is to inform about high quality food products. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is the owner of the PDŻ - Try Fine Food mark. The Minister has appointed a gro-t up of independent experts - Scientific Council for Ouality of Food Products - responsible for establishing criteria and rules of the appraisal, in order to maintain independent judgment. The Council consists of scientific personnel working in food business on daily basis.
It is worth mentioning that participation in PDŻ - Try Fine Food is entirely voluntary and any entrepreneur from an EU Member State may apply. Producer’s application for the programme is free of charge. The producer does not carry any costs in connection with obtaining and using PDŻ - Try Fine Food mark. The only expen-se for the producer is related to preparing all documents necessary for the evaluation. When proposing a product for the programme, a producer receives standard application forms and a list of analyses needed for the evaluation of product's quality.
The assignment of a PDŻ -Try Fine Food mark of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development” confirms the producfs high and unique quality, enhances its prestige in the eyes of consumers. Furthermore due to the information of the products" high and stable quality, the trust to a certain food product increases.
Only producers have the right to apply for the PDŻ - Try Fine Food mark.

the above mentioned raw materials |
In order to ensure constant, very high quality of the marked products, as well as reliability of origin of the raw mate-rials, the programme lays down the following maximum validity periods for the mark:
- First time the mark is granted to the product for the period of up to 3 years.
- Next time the mark is granted to the product for the period of up to 5 years.
Until now this prestige mark of high and stable quality products has been given to the products of 70 businesses in the agri-food sector. PDŻ - Try Fine Food mark can be seen on 704 meat products, milk products, fruit and vegeta-ble products, biscuits and sweets.
2007 has been a very important year for the PDŻ - Try Fine Food programme. For the first time a reassignment procedurę of the Try Fine Food marks, which were first granted three years ago.
