ADAM MASTER REFERENCE LETTER

It is im pleasiire to write a reference letter to Adam Master. Me has joined my group in \o\emlvr 2002. \lthough. ho was working in my laboratory only for 3 months. his has been very woli prcparod lor ścieni i fic work and that short period was very productive. While working in my lahoratory. ho was imohed in application of various new methods to błock cytokine-induced signaling in glioma cclls. Moro specifically. he carried out a project related to designing siRNA against TGF beta receptor type 2 for cloning into Ambion pSilencer vectors. Another project he started was to design, clone and produce a recombinant protein - Fas ligand interfering peptide. Both projects were demanding and imohed working simultaneously with many techniques. Adam Master has a broad knowledge of molecular biology techniques. in particular he is very good in designing primers and probes. cloning and llirther work with DNA.

Adam Mastefs preliminary work was successful and we continuc both projects. Because of his very signillcant contribution. he is a co-author of several posters presented at scientific meetings and iwo manuscripts. whieh are in preparation.

I can readily attest his solid preparation and potential for scientific work. particularly in the ureas of genetics. biotechnolog)', molecular and celi biology. As one can judge from his results achieced in short time. he ob\ iously worked very hard and efficiently. He was careful and dutiful in his work: I could always trust his results and judgment. Adam Master is a well-organized person, ertlcient in planning and performing experiments. Since my laborator)' is rather large. most students work independently and have to learn how to trouble-shoot experimental problems.

On a pcrsonal side. Adam Master is focused and maturę individual. with a relaxed, friendly attitude towards his peers and colleagues.

(iiven his past and current level of both academic and company training. 1 believe that Adam Master will do well in research institule or R&D type institution. For this reason, I would like to strongly support his application.
