Sich auf die Polemik Kopitars mit Petm Malor bezie* hend, zitiert J. Pogaćnik letzteren ais „rura&nischen hóheren Geistlichen G. Malor⁴* (S. 40) und, in derselben Form G. Maior, auch im Personenverzeichniss (S. 229), wobel doch Grigore Malor ais unierter Bischof der slebenbiirger Rumanen etwas frliher (1772—1782) tatig war¹. Auch kónnen wir der Meinung des Autors, dass Petru Maior gegen die Beweise Kopitars beztiglich der Verraischung der Walachen mit den Dakern und Thrakern und der weiteren Verwendung des kyrillischen Alphabetes nichts austrichten konnte (S. 41), nicht beistiramen. Neuere Forschungen der rum&nlschen Phllologen und Historiker bieten dlesbezUglich eindeu-tige Schlussfolgerungen ^{1 2}. Abschliessend sei noch henrorgehoben, dass manche der im Anhang yerOffentlichten Titeln der Kopitar-Bibliographie einen merklichen Beitrag filr die Kenntnis der Beziehungen zu dera ruraanischen Aufklftrer Petru Maior brlngen.

The Romanian llterary magazine “Manuscriptum** shows a constant interest for the literaturę in the Balkans. This issue is a good evidence. It publishes an article on the relatlonships between Nikos Kazantzakis and Panait Istratl. It also publishes a series of most Inter es ting letters of Panait Istrati* s addressed to Jean-Richard Bloch.

Panait Istrati was one of the most interes ting personalitles of the Romanian literaturę. There are still many thlngs to be known ab out his life as all his manuscripts and letters were presented by Istrati to his friends. Jean-Richard Bloch was a friend ot Istratl*s, a writer himself and editor who helped hira correct the French of his writings.

Romain Rolland discovered Istrati and was the “first hand*' In correcting Istrati*s French editions. But as Rolland could not go on doing it because of his poor health.he introduced Istrati to Jean-Richard Bloch who corrected the manuscripts of “Stavru*\ “Mo? Anghel**, “Moartea lui Mo? Anghel**, ‘‘Cosma**, “Haiducii**, “Domnita din Snagov**, “Codin**, and “Mihail”.

The letters Istratl ezchanged with Bloch are a good evidence of how the correction was done* Istrati’s French was in fact surprisingly good. Bloch*s corrections malnly regarded syn-tactic constructions and the misuse of several terms. He was a very modest man and would not have agreed to slgning his corrections. The letters reveal IstratPs insistance that he should signi “Une explication et des aveux de ta part s*iraposent Tu fais un travail de langue fran-ęaisej eh, bien ii faut le dire. Le dire jusąu'h quel point U y va, ou 11 cesse ... J’appelerais cela une collaboratlon. Tu collabore avec moL II faut le dire ...**

Mostly the letters witness in fact the making of Istratl*s books. In the letter dated 12^lh of August 1924, he refers to ^Oncle Anghel’* and in that dated August, 29, he comments upon it Bloch seeras to have had doubts about it3 “Tu fus un ami critiąue accompll quand tu remarque Cinconseąuencc de la conception de L*Oncle Anghel (dans la mort)**. Istrati asked for criticism and was very grateful to his friend for whatever he objected to, as he knew Bloch was a friendiy critic and his criticism could prevent the morę bitter one of the public: “Comrae je serals reconnaissant b Parni qui voudra, guid6 par cette indicatlon, donner dans un petit apperęu, la faęon de volr et de juger mon oeuvre avant que de gros malenten-dus embrouillent les raisonements et me mettent mai avec le lecteur inteiligent !’*.
