In the article the conditions of the cooperation of higher education institutions with business entities was discussed as well as an attempt of characterization of the innovation of Masovia and of the role of the cooperation of the economic sector with colleges was madę. The assessment of the level of the innovation of Masovia was madę based on the methodology of European lnnovation Scoreboard.
As it transpires from the comparison, the Masovian province is in he first place, before the matpolski, dolnośląski and śląski provinces, in terms of the generał innovation indicator. Such a favorable position of the Masovian province in innovation is not trans-ferring itself into the research-developmental activity of the Ministry of Treasury. It results from research conducted with CATI method amongst 500 smali and medium enterprises conducting an activity in Masovia that only 30,6% of them had a worked-out development, and 7,2% declared working on B+R during 2005-2011. Examined entrepreneurs do not appreciate the research activity of higher education institutions and rarely use their services.

In the article the Author is searching the answer to the question whether the generał criticism of Polish colleges and their graduates is right. Basing on a research of the opinions of employers of Masovia and on economic forecasts for the labor market, she is trying to assess the degree of fitting of graduates of Masovian colleges to the current and futurę labor market regarding the quantitative, structural and quality aspects, and to assess the situation of graduates of higher education institutions on the Masovian labor market using the SWOT analysis.
