D0CUMENT3 AND MINUTES OF THE GENERAL FACULTY RECOMMENDATIONS TO CHANGE THE REQUIREMENTG FOR ADMISSION
The Faculty Council ha6 filed with the Secretary of the General Faculty the recommendationo published below adopted by the Faculty Council at it8 meet-ing of January 19, 1959* The legialation was claeslfied as major and as such is being submitted to the General Faculty for ratifieation.
Notice is hereby given that these recommendations will be presented to the Board of Regents for adoption unless signed protests in writing, with reasons, have been receiyed by the Secretary of the General Faculty from ten voting members of the General Faculty within ten days of the datę of thiB publication, in which case the recommendations will be presented to the General Faculty In formal session for decision.

RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE FACULTY COUNCIL
(To be effective for students entering in September, 19^3)
On page 26 of the current General Information bulletin, change the 6ection "Unit reąuirements’' to read: "Unit reąuirements.--The following tabulation shows tha high-school units which may be offered by bigb-school graduates in satisfaction of the admis-sion reąuirements. The "Units" column shows the number of unita that may be offered in each subject.

"Effective September, 1963, the minimum unit reąuirements for admission to the College of Arts and Sciences will be: English, 3; foreign languages (Group C), 2; science (Group D), 2; mathematics (Group E), 2; social Sciences (Group F), 2; additional from any group (but not morę than two /rem Group U), 5; total, 16. A student satisfying all the reąuirements except the foreign language, including sixteen acceptable units, will be admitted with a deficiency in foreign language." The specific unit reąuirements for ad-mission to other colleges and schools will remain the same, except that the total number of admission units must be sixteen and no morę than two units may be presented frem Group G.
Not morę than aix units will be accepted in any combination of fine arts subjects.
