The learned professor’s remark, however, that the 5th century B.C. datę for Śań. and the evidenee of this piąte have been uphekl by me and incorporated in my thesis and approved by a reputed University like the University of Poona, presided over by eminent Indologists is both malicious and far from truth (Vide his foolnote on p. 103). I havc nowhere upheld the said dale nor the evidence of my piąte. I have only stated it as one of the pieccs of evidence, put forward by iliose who uphold the 6^Ul century B.C. as the datę of Sań., which also has only been stated by me as one of the dates proposcd for Sań. and which required to be stated and/or discussed at length. Obviously, the professor has madę the remark without himself going through my thesis in the original.
