Bulldogs wrestling season

The Ireshman and sophomore wrestling teams did all right this year, even though the ireshmen lacked experience and the sophomores only lilled eight weights with their smali group.

There are 13 classes of weights altogether: 103. 112. 119. 125. 130. 135. MO. 145. 152. 160. 171, 189 and heavy weight.

Despite failure to make weight and lack oi patronage. the sophs leel that they had a good year. The generał consensus is that both individual and team discipline is im-proving.

The Ireshmen. with new coach Ro<l Parker, had a good time with their introductiori to high school wrestling. and are well on their way to bigger and better things.

Varsity wrestling team achieved an ex cellent 11 4 record this season. The tearn tilled up all ol the weight classes and had two seruors — Pat Crowley and Dan Carroll that served as cocaptains. Over-all. the wrestling team was very young. with seven juniors. three sophomores. and a single treshman. The group was led by Byron Williams (112 Ibs). Pat Crowley (119 lbs.), Bryan Moore (140 Ibs). Dan Carroll (160 lbs.). and Bob 0’Connor (171 lbs.) This year s lour sectional gualiiiers were Williams. Crowley, 0’Connor. and Stacy Klow ers (HWT). Undeleated sophomore Bob 0’Connor placed lirst al the sectional meet and advanced to the State meet at the Um-versity ol Illinois. Though Williams and Crowley did not advance to state. they both had outstanding seasons.
