Freshrnen thrilled tans by taking the conference championship for the hrsl time in HLR htstory. This is a testament to the strength ol the football program at HLR.

Head coach and hrst year teacher at HLR. Ty Harting expressed his thoughts of the season when he said. "It feels very aood ... to win the conference championship for the first time in the history of the school. Much of the credit. however. must be shared with assistant coaches Hutsell, Lunak. Bolton and Dangles. as well as the players. It would be nice if next year we can make it two in a row!'

In finishing the season the coaches chose two well desemng individuals for the MVPawards: Darrel Sims (offense) and Bill Sawyer (defense).

Did the varsity state victory motivate the freshrnen? Harting answered "Absolutely, our immediate goal was to win the confer-ence championship ... Our long range goal is to have this squad be part of a state championship ... before they graduate.”

With such dedicated athletes, the school s wmning reputation is surę to become a long-standing tradition.
