Patient position: seated

Apply the base of the Kinesio Tex to
the lateral surface of the acromion
process.

Place the shoulder in horizontal
adduction with the patient’s hand
resting on the opposite shoulder. Flex
the head and neck.

Place your hand on the acromion
process of the scapula and pull the
skin anteriorly and laterally while
simultaneously passively moving the
glenohumeral joint into internal
rotation. These motions apply tissue
stretch to the skin and underlying
fascia of the middle trapezius.

Peel the Kinesio Tex from the paper
liner and place the tape temporarily
on the skin. Do not activate the glue
by rubbing.

Apply the superior “y” tail to the
spinous process of the 7th cervical
vertebra.

Apply the inferior “y” tail to the
spinous process of the 4th thoracic
vertebra, following the spine of
scapula.
