Subject: Mast and Carriage Load Rollers
Note: For similar information on other series refer to Parts Service Gram IF00075 for E/J/S40-60XL and
70-155XL.
New full radius mast and carriage load rollers have been released for the subject current production models
and also for service on older units of similar capacity.
These full radius rollers replace the relieved profile rollers formerly used on these series.
The full radius rollers present a larger load face to the channels thereby allowing the loading to be spread
over a larger area. This reduces point loadings and surface pressures on the channel material, espe-
cially where offset loads are encountered such as with rotating clamps.
Full radius rollers are available in three sizes - i.e. standard, .030"/0.76mm oversize and .060"/1.52mm
oversize. On product supplied from the factory standard rollers only will be fitted. Oversize rollers have
been made available for service use only for applications which require minimum roller to channel clear-
ances. The oversize rollers can reduce fore and aft movement in masts and carriages.
Each roller size is identified by the letter A , B or C stamped on the inner face of the roller.

NOTE! Oversize rollers must be fitted in pairs. The same diameter of roller must be fitted in the same
relative position on the left and right hand side of the mast or carriage. This will ensure that the mast or
carriage will track in a straight line and that loads are equally shared on the rollers.
We reserve the right to make changes in design or add improvements without incurring
the obligation to make such changes in equipment previously manufactured.

Service Note
When fitting full radius rollers, always check the channel sections for any raised ridges, flaking metal
or other surface irregularities. These must be repaired before fitting the new rollers. After an extended
period of service, if the channel sections are severely worn or grooved, they should be replaced.
Shimming
With the new full radius rollers only, shim for minimum side to side movement of weldments at the tightest
point. The shim used to adjust side to side movement, part number 215240, is .030"/0.75mm thick, hence
operating clearance will be zero to .030"/0.75mm maximum.
Always ensure that no binding takes place between weldments and that movement is free.
Lubrication
It is extremely important that all masts are greased in accordance with Parts Service Gram IF00055 R03.
Use grease, Hyster part number 3020381, which is a high grade lithium based grease containing 2 to
4% molybdenum disulfide.
With correct lubrication, roller selection and shimming, it is possible to reduce clearances between rolled
channel sections to a minimum.
