SUBJECT: LUBRICATION OF HYDRAULIC PUMP/MOTOR COUPLING
Field experience has shown that the coupling between the motor and the hydraulic pump requires periodic
lubrication. Every 1,000 hours, the pump motor should be removed from the truck, and the splined cou-
pling on the motor shaft should be packed completely with Thermogrease (ARCO), Mobiltemp Grease #l
(Mobil), Thermatex EP #l (Texaco), or equivalent.
Most E30-60AS units built after Serial Number A108V-1826V are equipped with a grease fitting which
allows coupling lubrication without removing the motor. The grease fitting is on the bottom of the hydraulic
tank wall to which the pump motor mounts. Make a visual inspection for this before removing the motor.
