Liberec
Let me introduce our town where we all lives and where we have our home. It´s Liberec.
The city of Liberec has about 100,000 inhabitants. It´s not so great city which lies between two mountains. It´s Jizera mountains and Ještěd ridge. All around this city is very marvelous nature and many other things which are good to see.
Liberec has also wonderful history. In the twentieth century by the second world war there was many German people and after it they had to go back to the Germany. In the year 1968 by the russian occupation, there died a couple of people, they were shot by russian tanks. In the Beneš´s square, there is a statue for victims of this violence.
But in those days is Liberec realy safe place where you can do many things for free time. Hospital is in the centre and police office too.
There are many sightseeings because Liberec is also very old town and in the eighteenth century wasn´t so great like today. For the first time I must say anything about the Town Hall. It isn´t so old, because there was an older but someone said that we have to build a new more bigger and more nice Town Hall. I´m realy happy that this idea was realized. The Town Hall is our boast. In the center, there are much of old buildings from eighteenth century. For example Valdstein´s houses or old church and the old Šalda´s theatre which was built from stone. So Liberec is like an old architectonic treasure.
There is the North-Bohemian Museum which has big collects of birds, bugs and any other important things which belongs to our city.
Liberec lies in the north of our Czech Republic. Near by is the border with Germany so we sometimes makes little trips to the Zittau or Dresden and some near-border German cities. This is an ideal land where isn´t so polluted air and where lives many animals. But sometimes we are very horrible to the enviroment, because around Šalda´s square, where is the greates traffic from whole Liberec, isn´t so good air. But in the mountains, there is really nice nature.
Liberec had produced textile machinery and goods of synthetic materials. But this firm which named Textilana ended her works two years ago and now in the place where the building of this firm stayed, there will be a great centre of free time with multi-cinemas and some cofés.
The whole region is centre of both summer and winter sports. Ještěd´s summit can be reached in a few minutes by a funicular railway. From this point is marvelous view of whole Liberec. It´s the last railway of this type in our republic.
Liberec is a culture centre too and prepares many introductions and something like this.
When outdoor isn´t good weather, you can go to one of our two cinemas or you can go with friends to some of wonderfuls restaurants. there are many things to do in all types of weather and in all seasons. We have also our own swimming hall where is a tobogan which is longer in cantral Europe. The swimming pool is very modern and has all things which it have to have.
In the berg Ještěd is an a-class hotel, but not only hotel. There are many places for winter activities. We can go skiing or ski jumping or in the summer cycling or jogging. I mean that there can anyone find his favourite activity. And if not, he can ride to the Jizera moutains where are other places for free time.
We have both botanical an zoological gardens. In zoo we have some unussual animals. For example penguins, white tigers great eagles and gorrilas. And in Botanical garden, there are many pavilions with flowers from all over the world.
Our school lies near by the airport where is the helicopter from our hospital. Our school is a little bit new building. I like it because i have there many friends. I think that our school is the best in the region. In Liberec, there is second grammar school in Jeronýmova street but i think our is better.
In the mountains there are forrests and small brooks. A few minutes from centre to the Husova street, there is a dam where you can go swimming in the summer and go sledging in the winter.
I like our city because it has many opportunities for all inhabitants. I mean that we can be very happy that Liberec isn´t great like any other towns from our republic. I´m looking forward to my life in this town with my family in next years.
