�� Page | 1 � 2014 Traffic Authority Page | 2 Introduction Good to see you again, and before we jump into how we can use the Traffic Authority strategy to make money as an affiliate, you need to make sure you ve completed The Manual. In no way should you start this course, reading this eBook here. Great. Now that s cleared up, I want you to open your eyes to affiliate marketing. Most of the money I ve made online, probably 80% of it, I ve made as an affiliate. That means me, referring customers to offers other people have created, and making a commission for every sale. That is it in a nutshell, and when we know how to drive traffic, we can make a great deal of money without creating anything to sell. This is where its good for us, because using the Traffic Authority strategy means we know how to send targeted traffic to offers, so the hard bit is covered. We know how to get traffic, we just need to understand the best way to promote affiliate offers and what ones to choose. Ready to dive in? Why make money as an affiliate? I ve pretty much covered the main benefit in the section above, but there are a lot of benefits to making money as an affiliate. There s no upfront expense here, and we can simply make money just from sending traffic to other peoples offers. They ve done all the hard work; they ve bought in the stock or produced an in-depth course and created everything for � 2014 Traffic Authority Page | 3 you. You simply send targeted traffic, and when they convert and buy, you get send commission for the sale. Now here s the cool thing. YouTube is the second largest search engine, so this simply means it s a platform people search on. Therefore people are trying to find out reviews or specific products, they re trying to find answers and most importantly we can provide them with exactly what they need. Someone searches for a way to lose weight, and a YouTube authority that shows his or her viewers how to lose weight recommends checking out the product in the description. That link is your affiliate link. Now all of a sudden the person looking for a solution to lose weight on YouTube is presented with a trustworthy source, which recommends checking out a specific product using the link in the description. That link gives them the solution they re after, leading them to take action, buy, and this of course leads to a commission being paid out to you. It s powerful. Yet it s simple. Where To Start Again, I m going to start with the basic level of where to start. Affiliate marketing and how to make money as an affiliate is a huge topic I could write a whole new 120-page eBook on. But these specifics will set you up on the right track for sure. 1. Sign up to an affiliate network Simple, go and create and account at an affiliate network. Places like Clickbank, Clicksure, JVZOO, Affiliate Window, Linkshare, Web Gains, Commission Junction, Amazon, eBay etc. � 2014 Traffic Authority Page | 4 2. Find a product to promote Search the marketplace of the affiliate network you ve signed up to, and find a product to promote. If you have a niche in mind already, go ahead and find a product related to that niche. If you don t, find a high converting offer in a given niche that of course has popular YouTube channels related to it. 3. Generate your affiliate link Dependent on the affiliate network you re signed up to the way you do this differs, but for each of them it s straightforward. This is your unique link that redirects to the sales page, and tracks that if a purchase is made when someone visits through your link you re automatically credited. 4. Cloak your affiliate link Look, we re adding our link here to the video description. Affiliate links are ugly so use a service to cloak your affiliate url. Bit.ly and Tinyurl are options. Even better, use a domain to cloak the affiliate link. Something like: http://www.yourdomain.com/product-name 5. Take action Once the above has been completed, simply follow the 4 steps from the Manual. Find an authority, get in touch with them and get them to recommend their viewers to visit your link. Now again, the 4-step process basically stays the same. You still find keywords the same way as taught in the Manual, you still find channels and videos the same way, but the way we get them to accept our offer differs. We of course need to approach getting a YouTube authority to recommend our affiliate link differently to the way we approach them to just recommend our website. Here s how. � 2014 Traffic Authority Page | 5 The Approach Like I ve said, the 4-step process you learnt in the Traffic Authority manual stays the same. The only thing we need to do differently is the way we approach the negotiation. How are we going to get the channel owner to say yes to our offer? Here s the issue: People tend to frown on affiliate links. Why? Because as the owner of that channel, they could simply create their own affiliate link and make money for themselves rather than you. Here s the other downside. Customers tend to frown on affiliate links when they re smart enough to know the referrer is making money from the sale& therefore it can damage the reputation of the authority we re targeting. So we need to angle it different. Because the likelihood is the authority we re targeting will know all about affiliate marketing and how they can make money from it. So here s how. NOTE: On the odd chance, the person we re targeting may just be a complete online newbie who has a huge following on their YouTube and has no idea about how to make money with their channel. They upload videos for fun, and we as online marketers can benefit from that. What To Offer So I ve already mentioned that if the person we re contacting is smart enough to know about how affiliate marketing works, they could simply just use their own link to make the money you could potentially be earning. Therefore we need to approach them in a business manner. We need to position our offer to them as if it s something they re benefiting from, along with their subscribers. � 2014 Traffic Authority Page | 6 But if you re lucky, you may be able to take a different approach& The Casual Approach Start by weighing up the YouTube authority you re targeting. Do they already monetize their YouTube channel? Do they use YouTube ads? Recommend other products? Link off to external sources such as a blog they run or a website they own? If not, and it looks like the person is simply just making videos for the fun of it, we can hit them with a casual approach. This simply means they ll be more receptive to an offer that benefits you more than them. If they can make a little bit of money from your proposition, they ll be willing to help out. Think about it. You upload YouTube videos on a hobby of yours, lets say Baking Cakes, and you do it just for fun. You get a polite email with a proposition to make some money from a video you post& you re of course going to be interested. It s also very likely that you don t know the full money making potential of the YouTube channel you ve developed (because you re just doing it for fun), so I can approach you more casually. I can offer you a one time upfront payment to add my affiliate link and of course recommend your subscribers to check it out within the video. That upfront payment is of course going to be a bonus for you, and it s going to be an incentive for you to take up your end of the deal. Not only that, but the upfront fee is going to make you feel in debt, so you now owe me a favor. You add my affiliate link, and I play down the money making potential I have from you using my affiliate link. I could now easily earn a huge amount more than the fee I paid you. � 2014 Traffic Authority Page | 7 Now this is a rare exception, but there are YouTube channels out there that don t know the money making potential. A small incentive, and you ll be sure to get them agreeing to your offer. So weigh up the channel you re targeting. The Business Approach Now if you want to make money from this strategy, using affiliate marketing, the business approach is going to be the typical way to do things. What this basically means is you need to approach it in a way that you both benefit and make money from your affiliate link. Almost like you re going to joint venture with them. Here s how. 1. Split the commissions This works really well, as you can split the commissions earned with the owner of the channel. This works on a performance basis, so they only make money when you do& leading to no upfront expense. It also will then drive them to pay more attention to your promotion, as the better it does, the more money they make. With the majority of affiliate networks, you can split commissions or set 2nd tier commissions. It manages everything for you, when a sale is made money hits your account and money hits theirs. 2. Buy them the product You can position it like you have an involvement in the product you re promoting, and you can simply offer to give them access for free. All you need to do is buy them the product. If you ve found a targeted channel to whatever you re promoting, they re obviously going to be interested in the product. Give it to them for free, and they ll return � 2014 Traffic Authority Page | 8 the favour by talking about the product and including your affiliate link. 3. An upfront fee You can of course offer them an upfront fee. With this, you need to really weigh up the channel in question. How many subscribers do they have? How much activity does each of their videos get? Do they monetize their channel? Think about your return of investment. If they have 50,000 subscribers, their channel is highly targeted to whatever it is you re promoting, and each video has an average of over 20,000 likes, a variety of comments and high ratings& we know that the traffic sent and the money making potential here is high. Therefore we can offer more. A ballpoint figure would be anywhere between $50 - $200. Yes, we re talking about upfront expense here, but once we break even the rest is profit for us to keep. Now those 3 options are great for using as an incentive to get the YouTube authority to add your affiliate link. I ve used all 3, and all 3 work. It really does depend on what will benefit you the most. Where as an upfront fee causes expense before any money is made, once you break even, the rest of the money generated is yours to keep. Buying them the product works really well, but are they going to be interested in it? What s the value of the product? I like to split the commissions where possible, as this works on a performance basis. We really don t know how well a channel and how well a specific campaign is going to do, so by working on a performance basis we re not losing out. Once we ve used a specific YouTube authority to promote one of our affiliate links on a performance basis, and we ve seen that they can generate a good amount of income, we can then look to team up with them again but this time offering a one off fee. � 2014 Traffic Authority Page | 9 So you can easily use this strategy to make money as an affiliate, just tailor your approach once you contact them. Follow these 4 steps, which I ve already mentioned above: 1. Sign up to an affiliate network 2. Find a product to promote 3. Generate your affiliate link 4. Cloak your affiliate link And then you re ready to take action and tailor your approach using the incentives provided in this eBook. Now I ve made a great deal of money using this strategy for affiliate marketing purposes, and again, I know a lot of people doing so currently. But it really is one of the hardest methods to get right. The strategies above are the strategies that have worked for me. So follow them, and you ll profit. Good luck. � 2014 Traffic Authority
