• czasu tego używamy dla wyrażenia czynności, która rozpoczęła się w przeszłości lecz trwa do chwili obecnej

Tom has worked in this firm since 1980.

They have lived here for many years.

• dla czynności dopiero co zakończonych

He has just left.

• dla czynności, która wystąpiła w przeszłości i ma skutki w teraźniejszości

He has worked too much lately and that's why he is so tired.

The Browns have recently bought a new car.

I have seen this film.

• także z określeniami takimi jak: recently, lately, just, already, never, ever, yet (najczęściej w pytaniach), since (od jakiego momentu czynność się odbywa) i for (jak już długo odbywa się czynność)

• tworzymy go zestawiając odpowiednią formę czasownika „to have” i imiesłowem (tzw. trzecia forma czasownika)

- dla czasowników regularnych: I, you, we, they have opened the window.

He, she, it has opened the window.

- dla czasowników nieregularnych: I, you, we, they have written a letter.

He, she, it has written a letter.

• pytanie: „have” (3 os. L.p. - „has”) + imiesłów

Present Perfect Continuous Tense

to have + been + ...ing

• czasu tego używamy, aby wyrazić, że od pewnego czasu do tej pory odbywała się jakaś czynność (gdy mówimy o jej rezultatch używamy Present Perfect)

czasu tego używamy mówiąc zarówno o czynnościach, które trwają nadal, jak i o tych, które się właśnie

I have been writing letters since breakfast. I have written 3 so far.

I have been waiting for John since 8 o'clock. (He is still not here.)

I have been waiting for you since 8 o'clock. (And you are finally here.)
