Description
This bulletin provides information on how cee'd (ED) active headrest operates and service instructions that
should be followed when replacement of the active headrest is required.
CAUTION)
- When replacement of a cee'd active headrest is required, replace the seat back whole. The cee'd active
headrest must not be removed from the seat back, so DO NOT replace the headrest only.
[How cee'd active headrest operates]
A: Before active headrest operates B: After active headrest operates
1. If rear-end collision occurs, the occupant's back pushes the actuator (`$).
2. The actuator pulls the cable (a$).
3. The cable also pulls and rotates the body of revolution (b$) inside the headrest.
4. The rotational motion changes into the linear motion by the threads inside the body of revolution and it
gets the headrest (c$) to move forward. (AB)
