W h a t i s a p h r a s a l v e r b ?
Phrasal verb to idiomatyczna (zawierająca idiom = frazę oznaczającą coś innego niż dosłowne
tłumaczenie kolejnych słów) kombinacja:
* czasownika i przysłówka
* lub czasownika i przyimka
* lub czasownika i przysłówka i przyimka
W zdaniu :
H o l d u p y o u r r i g h t h a n d a n d r e p e a t a f t e r m e .
kombinację "hold up" należy rozumieć jako "hold" + "up", czyli "trzymaj wysoko, unieś".
Natomiast w zdaniu :
T h e c r i m i n a l s h e l d u p t h e t r a i n a n d s t o l e a l l t h e p a s s a n g e r ' s
m o n e y .
Kombinacja "hold up" jest phrasal verb-em i należy jej znaczenia szukać w słowniku. "Hold up" oznacza
" zatrzymać siłą w celu obrabowania".
