Language is organised in 4 levels:

• Words (Morphology)

• Sounds (Phonology)

• Sentence (Syntax – składnia)

• Text (Semantics)

Types of sentences:

• Statements

• Questions

• Negative sentences

Approaches of teaching grammar

• inductive rule-dicovering (examples, learner has to discover the rule)

• deductive – rule-driven (giving rules)

• easier to remember

• more attractive

• - more time-consuming

• - sometimes it may be difficult to make a rule

deductive

• - less attractive

• - impression that learning a language is learning rules

• +less time-consuming

Both approaches are good depending on what do we teach and who.
