Turning with the ball in a small sided game (6v6)

DESCRIPTION OF PRACTICE:
A 6v6 small sided game. A simple demonstration of game organization, management and control using Q&A technique to improve players understanding of the key factors relating to turning with the ball in a real game situation. Turning with the ball should lead to an end product; dribbling, running, passing or shooting. This session should clearly identify the need for demonstration and rehearsal in clearly and accurately recreated situations.
ORGANISATION:
60 X 40 6 V 6 (1-2-2-1)	A SSG (6v6) including GKs on an area roughly 60x40 depending on age, ability and previous experience of the players. Start position can be from the Goalkeepers. No restrictions Players are encouraged to receive and turn Explain control methods for the game. Work through key factors in logical sequence

KEY OBSERVATION FACTORS:

Create space as a team (Mobility, Width & Depth) Create and exploit space as an individual to receive or for a team mate to receive((mobility, penetration) and turn with the ball Receiving techniques (body position, first touch, quality of touch, How to turn) Decision making (when and where to turn, when not to) End product( Pass ,shot, dribble, run )

NOTES:

This is all about getting into position to receive and controlling the ball effectively on one touch to turn quickly with the ball to exploit space and create and overload or to penetrate. The turn must have an end product. Emphasize the team element to create these situations. Players must learn when to turn in front of opponents, roll opponents to turn, turning away to play to support.
