TOPIC / THEME: Attacking Skills |
Receiving, Turning & Shooting in a Functional practice. |
DESCRIPTION OF PRACTICE: |
A functional practice. A simple demonstration of organization, management and control using Q&A technique to improve players understanding of the key factors relating to the topics in a repetitive rehearsal which reflects how this would happen in the real game situation. This session should clearly identify the need for demonstration and rehearsal in clearly and accurately recreated situations. |
ORGANISATION: 2.Developing shooting and rebounding techniques |
60 X 40
On an area roughly 40x30; depending on age, ability and previous experience of the players, the teams line up to receive the ball from the keeper. They have one touch to control then pass to the target player who lays it off for them to shoot, preferably on one touch. The session is developed in stages and progresses through a logical sequence moving from technical practice to decision making
Players rotate roles throughout the session
KEY OBSERVATION FACTORS: |
NOTES: |
The two players work as a pair against one defender. Progress by allowing the defender to choose to stick with the rebounder or block the shot. How does this now affect the decision making of the shooter? Explore what his options are. Could he dribble, shoot earlier or even pass?
