The engine coolant temperature sensor is near the thermostat. 1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector
2. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor.
Installation
1. Install a new washer and the engine coolant temperature sensor in the engine.
Tighten to 18-22 lb-ft (25-29N·m).
2. Connect the sensor connector.
3. Start the engine and check for coolant leakage.
Inspection
1. Place the sensor in a beaker of water with a thermometer and heat the water gradually.
2. Measure the resistance of the sensor using an ohmmeter. WATER TEMPERATURE °F (°C) Resistance (kΩ)
68°F(20°C) 2.45±0.24
176°F (80°C) 0.322±0.032
3. If resistances are not within olerance, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
4. Install the sensor in the engine.
5. Connect the sensor connector to the sensor.
