  1. BILL OF LADING

(BOL or B/L)

A) A document on which material required in a production process or to be forwarded to a customer is listed. According to the list the material is then taken from a stock

2. PACKING LIST

B) A written document from the seller to the buyer that accompanies a delivery of goods and specifies type of goods and quantity.

3. DELIVERY NOTE

C. (a) The price paid to the carrier for the transportation of merchandise from one place to another. (b) It is also used to denote goods which are in transit from one place to another.

4. DEPOT

D) A document issued by the master of a ship on behalf of the owners, acknowledging the receipt of goods put on board and setting out the terms and conditions under which the goods will be carried. It is also a document of title to the goods described in it.

5. PICKING LIST

E. A centralized store or operating base for logistical use by commercial or governmental bodies for storage of goods, training of personnel, or maintenance of vehicles.

6. FREIGHT

F) A document giving details of the contents of all the packages making up the consignments and is required by Custom's authorities if the packing information is not shown on the invoice. It is usually attached to the invoice.

7. CARRIER

G) A location where traffic is exchanged across several modes of transport. These modes may include any of railway, automobile, airplane, ship or any other kind of transportation. The term is used both for passenger and freight transfers. It also allows transport to be exchanged between the same kind of transport mode

8. HAUL

H) To send off or away; -- particularly applied to sending off messengers, messages, letters, etc., on special business, and implying haste.

9. DISPATCH

I) (a) the distance through which anything is transported, as freight in a railroad car; it can be short of long; (b) to transport in a vehicle

10. TRANSPORTATION HUB

J) A person or firm in the business of transporting people or goods or messages.

11. SHIPPER

K) One who sends goods from one place to another not in the same city or town, esp. one who sends goods by water.
