General rule:

Singular noun + s = Plural Noun

 

Examples:

 

table → tables

car → cars

Singular nouns ending in -s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x, -o + -es = Plural nouns

Examples:

watch → watches

brush → brushes

tomato → tomatoes

fox →foxes

 

 words of foreign origin ending in -o just add -s

Examples:

piano → pianos

kilo → kilos

Singular nouns ending in a consonant + -y change the -y to -I + -es = Plural noun.

 

Example:

baby →babies

 

 Nouns ending in -y following a vowel just add -s

Example:

day →days

Twelve singular nouns ending in -f or -fe change the -f or -fe to -ves.

(calf, half, knife, leaf, life, loaf, self, sheaf, thief, wife, wolf)

 

Examples:

calf → calves

knife →knives

Some nouns have got an irregular plural form.

 

Examples:

 

foot → feet

goose → geese

tooth → teeth

louse → lice

mouse → mice

ox → oxen

child → children

man → men

woman → women

Remember:

Adjectives do not take -s in the plural.
