Tim:

We are a typical British family, I think. My wife's name is Kate and we've got two children, a boy and a girl. Our daughter's name is Lisa - she's just a baby. Our son's name is Chris. He's six years old. And my parents? Well, John is my father and Sally is my mother. I've got two sisters. Their names are Anna and Emma.

Emma:

My husband's name's Tom and we've got a son, Max. He's twelve years old now. I've got one sister, Anna and one brother, Tim. Tim's married with two children - my niece's name's Lisa and my nephew's name's Chris. Anna's divorced.

Sally:

I'm married to John. We have three children and three grandchildren - two grandsons and one granddaughter.

Max:

My mum and dad's names are Tom and Emma. I've got two aunts, Anna and Kate and one uncle. He's name's Tim and he's a police officer. I also have two cousins, Chris and Lisa. My grandparents' names are Sally and John.

THE POSSESSIVE CASE

Formy dzierżawczej rzeczownika używamy, gdy chcemy powiedzieć że coś do kogoś należy. Do rzeczownika w liczbie pojedynczej dodajemy końcówkę -`s.

It's John's family. It's his family.

W liczbie mnogiej do rzeczowników zakończonych na -s, by utworzyć formę dzierżawczą dodajemy sam apostrof ( ` ).

These are my daughters' toys.

W przypadku konstrukcji złożonych z kilku rzeczowników, końcówkę -s dodajemy do ostatniego z nich.

This is Mary and Fred's house.

Kolejność wyrazów w zdaniu z formą dzierżawczą rzeczownika jest inna niż w języku angielskim. Właściciel występuje na pierwszym miejscu.

Dona's books - książki Dony

George's plants - rośliny Georga
