Weaver s Knot Text and drawings by Cathy Lielausis AKA Glass Cat Beads The Weaver s Knot is also known as the sheet wind by sailors. When used in thread instead of rope, it is the smallest and strongest knot I have ever used. Until I saw it side by side with the Tailor s Knot I didn t believe it. I find this knot to be perfect for joining threads in seed-bead pieces. You can use glue or not as you prefer. If you make the knot close to the piece so that it doesn t get pulled on a lot before it settles into your piece then you don t need glue. Please don t use nail polish. It will dry brittle, discolor your piece and flake off with wear. If you want the added security of glue, use professional glue such as G-S Hypo Cement. 1. Loop new thread 2. Pass the new thread (violet) over old back under the old thread (green). and over itself in forming a loop. 3. Bring the tail of 4. Pull gently while the old thread down pinching the two threads through the loop you of new thread together just formed. and the two threads of old thread together. DO NOT JERK. This will form into two interlocking loops. If formed properly this will be very tight and secure. Text and Drawings Copyright 2001 by Cathy Lielausis Distributed by www.bead-patterns.com
