SOCK MONKEY CUP COZY

Materials:
WW yarn, (brown wool for the body…I used I Love This Wool from Hobby Lobby, red yarn, cream yarn)
Size G hook
2 buttons
yarn needle
2 Sizes ~ to-go cup size and larger cup size in ()
BASE
– (join at end of each row with sl st)
Ch 30 (35 for larger), sl st to make loop. Make sure not to twist chain.
ROW 1 – ch 1, HDC in joining st, HDC around.
ROW 2 – ch 1, HDC in joining st, HDC around.
ROW 3 – ch 1, HDC in joining st, 2 HDC, HDC in next 14 (16) sts, 2 HDC, HDC in remaining 13 (16) sts.
ROW 4 – ch 1, HDC in joining st, HDC around.
ROW 5 – ch 1, HDC in joining st, 2 HDC, HDC in next 15 (17) sts, 2 HDC, HDC in remaining 14 (17) sts.
ROW 6 & 7 – ch 1, HDC in joining st, HDC around.
ROW 8 & 9 – Change to red yarn. ch 1, HDC in joining st, HDC around.
ROW 10 – Change to cream yarn. ch 1, HDC in joining st, HDC around.
ROW 11 – Crab stitch (the crab stitch is working SC backwards. Insert hook into the last stitch of previous row.
YO and finish a SC) Keep working backwards around. sl st to join. F.O. and weave in ends.
EARS
– make 2
ch 2, 11 HDC in 2
nd
ch from hook. Fasten off. Leave longer tail.
FLOWER
ch 2, sl st to make loop.
(ch 3, 2DC, sl st) times 5 in loop. Fasten off. Leave longer tail.
MOUTH
ch 10, HDC in 2
nd
ch, HDC across, ch 1 (don’t turn) HDC in same st, ch 1, HDC in same st, ch 1, HDC in same
st. (working on other side now…see fig. A) HDC across to end, ch 1, HDC in same st, ch 1, HDC in same st, ch
1, HDC in same st, sl st to first HDC (Fig. B). Fasten off. Leave LONG tail.

With red yarn – If you pull apart the 2 sides you will see stitches up the middle of the piece. (Fig. C) Insert hook
at one end and pull up red yarn, (Fig. D) sl st over each space to end. At the last sl st, cut yarn and pull all the
way through. Use needle or hook to pull the tail to the back of the work. (Fig. E)

Sew on mouth, ears, flower and 2 buttons for the eyes!
