Description: With 750 million members (as of August 2011) Facebook is a tremendously popular social
networking site. Its massive reach provides compelling opportunities to connect with customers, both
current and future, through fan pages, news feeds, groups, and throughout the site.
Description: Twitter has quickly become a popular platform for consumers and advertisers alike. For
brands looking to communicate with customers in real time, the micro-blogging service is a great way to
carry on conversations in 140 or fewer characters.
Description: LinkedIn could be a very effective resource for both you and your company. In addition to
setting up a basic profile (with a followed link), you can also utilize groups, events, and answers to
connect with a large online network.
MySpace
Description: Though rapidly losing market share to Facebook, MySpace remains a highly trafficked
social media site that can be effective for marketing. In addition to creating profiles and getting friends,
connecting with groups interested in relevant topics and using group bulletins can each be great ways to
connect with both customers and potential customers.

brand, especially if your video reaches the most viewed pages. There are also numerous other ways to
optimize your videos, but coming up with an interesting concept and being aware of title, tagging, and
thumbnail image, should each be key components of your strategy.
StumbleUpon
Description: StumbleUpon helps you discover interesting web pages, photos and videos recommended
by friends and like-minded people, wherever you are. Though the effectiveness of the sometimes fickle
StumbleUpon traffic varies, experiments with the bookmarking service could expand your reach with a
diverse demographic.
Google Plus+
Description: Google+ (pronounced and sometimes written as Google Plus, sometimes abbreviated as
G+) is a social networking and identity service, operated by Google Inc. The service was launched on
June 28, 2011, in an invite-only "field testing" phase. Its required that in order to join Google Plus, that
you must have an active Google account.
Hi5
Description: hi5 is a social networking website based in San Francisco, California. The company was
founded in 2003 by Ramu Yalamanchi. By 2008, comScore reported that hi5 had become the third most
popular social networking site in terms of monthly unique visitors.
Bebo
Description: Bebo (pronounced bee-bow) is a social networking website launched in July 2005. It is
currently owned and operated by Criterion Capital Partners after taking over from AOL in June 2010.
The website's name is an acronym for Blog Early, Blog Often. Users receive a personal profile page
where they can post blogs, photographs, music, videos and questionnaires to which other users may
answer. Additionally, users may add others as friends and send them messages, and update their
personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. Bebo is very similar to other social networking sites,
mainly Facebook.
Friendster
Description: Friendster is a social gaming site that is based in Malaysia, KL. The company now
operates mainly from the three Asian countries namely in the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore.
