Steering Lock removal and Repair
The bottom plastic column shroud must be removed to gain access to the steering lock. Once
removed, locate the 8mm A/F bolt as indicated in Photo1

Feed the slack cable in at the position shown to allow the barrel to slide out from the
protective housing. Insert the ignition key to free the retaining pin on the opposite side of the
barrel (not shown in photo)

Keep feeding the slack cable through the hole until the barrel is free from the protective
housing.

Undo the two screws which hold the cable clamp in position. Tilt the barrel assembly with
respect to the cable connector and the two halves will separate. The barrel assembly will then
be free from the car and will look like photo4 below:

At this point, to dismantle any more the ignition key would be required. However, I did not
have the key for the above lock so I got stuck. At this stage it should be possible to lubricate
any part of the barrel with grease or oil accordingly.
