feature.Herearenewoptionsforthatfeature:
CircleofDreams,CircleoftheShepherd,and
CircleofTwilight.
PlaytestMaterial
Thematerialhereispresentedforplaytestingandto
sparkyourimagination.Thesegamemechanicsarein
draftform,usableinyourcampaignbutnotfully
temperedbydesigniterations.Theyarenotofficially
partofthegame.Forthesereasons,materialinthis
columnisnotlegalinD&DAdventurersLeagueevents.
CircleofDreams
DruidswhoaremembersoftheCircleofDreams
hailfromregionsthathavestrongtiestothe
Feywild.Thedruids’guardianshipofthenatural
worldmakesforanaturalalliancebetweenthem
andgood-alignedfey.Thesedruidsseektofill
theworldwithmerrimentandlight.Theirmagic
mendswoundsandbringsjoytodowncast
hearts,andtherealmstheyprotectaregleaming,
fruitfulplaces.
BalmoftheSummerCourt
At2ndlevel,youbecomeimbuedwiththe
blessingsoftheSummerCourt.Youareafontof
energythatlendsrelieftowearyfeetandrespite
frominjuries.Youhaveapooloffeyenergy
representedbyanumberofd6sequaltoyour
druidlevel.
Asabonusaction,youcanchooseanallyyou
canseewithin120feetofyouandspenda
numberofthosediceequaltohalfyourdruid
levelorless.Rollthespentdiceandaddthem
together.Thetargetregainsanumberofhit
pointsequaltothetotal.Thetargetalsogains1
temporaryhitpointperdiespent,anditsspeed
increasesby5feetperdiespent.Thespeed
increaselastsfor1minute.
Youregaintheexpendeddicewhenyoufinish
alongrest.

At6thlevel,homeiswhereveryousetupcamp.
Duringashortorlongrest,youcaninvokethe
shadowypoweroftheGloamingCourttoward
yourcampsitefromintruders.Atthestartofthe
rest,youcreateanareawitha30-footradius.
Withinthisarea,youandyouralliesgaina+5
bonustoWisdom(Perception)checkstodetect
creatures,andanylightfromopenflames
(campfire,torches,andthelike)isnotvisible
outsidethearea.Theseeffectsendwhentherest
finishesorwhenyouleavethearea.

At10thlevel,youcanusethehidden,
unpredictablemagicalpathwaysthatsomefey
usetotraversespaceinablinkofaneye.On
yourturn,youcanteleportupto30feettoaspot
youcansee.Eachfootofthisteleportationcosts
1footofyourmovement.
Youcanalsousethisfeaturetoteleport
someoneelse.Asanaction,youcanteleporta
willingallyyoutouchupto30feettoapointyou
cansee.
Onceyouuseeitheroption—teleporting
yourselforanally—youcan’tusethatoption
againuntil1d4roundshavepassed.
PurifyingLight
At14thlevel,thefavoroftheSummerCourt
allowsyoutoendspellsthathamperyouand
yourallies.Whenyoucastaspellwithaspell
slotanditrestoreshitpointstoyouoranally
thisturn,youcansimultaneouslytargetthe
healedcreaturewithdispelmagic,usingaspell
slotwithalevelequaltotheslotusedtocastthe
healingspell.
Youcanusethisfeaturethreetimes,andyou
regainexpendedusesofitwhenyoufinishalong
rest.Ifthehealingspelltargetsmorethanone
creature,youcanusethisfeatureonmorethan
oneatthesametime,expendingoneuseofitper
creature.

DruidsoftheCircleoftheShepherdcommune
withthespiritsofbeasts.Whilethesedruids
recognizethatalllivingthingsplayaroleinthe
naturalworld,theyfocusonprotectinganimals.
Shepherds,astheyareknown,seebeastsas
theircharges.Theywardoffmonstersthat
threatennaturalcreatures,rebukehunterswho
killmorepreythannecessary,andprevent

civilizationfromencroachingonhabitatsand
pathsneededforanimalmigrations.Manyof
thesedruidsarehappiestfarfromcitiesand
towns,contenttospendtheirdaysinthe
companyofwildanimals.
SpiritBond
Startingat2ndlevel,yougaintheabilitytocall
forthanimalspiritsandusethemtoinfluence
theworldaroundyou.Asabonusaction,you
magicallysummonaMediumspirittoan
unoccupiedspaceyoucanseewithin60feetof
you.Thespiritcreatesanauraina30-foot
radiusaroundit,itdoesn’toccupyitsspace,itis
immobile,anditcountsasneitheracreaturenor
anobject.
Thenatureoftheauradependsonthetypeof
spirityouchoosetosummon:
Bear.Thebearspiritgrantsyouandyourallies
itsmightandendurance.Youandyourallies
whoareintheaurawhenthespiritappears

Hawk.Thehawkspiritisaconsummatehunter,
markingyourenemieswithitskeensight.You
andyouralliesgainadvantageonranged
attackrollsagainsttargetsinthespirit’saura.
Wolf.Thewolfspiritlendsyouandyourallies
itsprecisesenses,whileyourmagicworksto
benefitthemembersofyourpack.Youand
youralliesgainadvantageonallabilitychecks
madetodetectcreaturesinthespirit’saura.In
addition,ifyoucastaspellwithaspellslotthat
restoreshitpointstoanyoneinsideoroutside
theaura,eachofyouralliesintheauraalso
regainshitpointsequaltoyourdruidlevel.
Thespiritpersistsfor1minute.Onceyouuse
thisfeature,youcan’tuseitagainuntilyoufinish
ashortorlongrest.
BeastSpeech
At2ndlevel,yougaintheabilitytoconverse
withbeasts.Beastscanunderstandyourspeech,
andyougaintheabilitytodeciphertheirnoises
andmotionsintorecognizablewordsand
phrases.Mostbeastslacktheintelligenceto
conveyorunderstandsophisticatedconcepts,
butafriendlybeastcouldrelaywhatithasseen
orheardintherecentpast.
Thisabilitydoesnotgrantyouanyspecial
friendshipwithbeasts,thoughyoucancombine
thisabilitywithgiftsandotherfavorstocurry
favorwiththemasyouwouldanyother
nonplayercharacter.
MightySummoner
At6thlevel,yougaintheabilitytoconjureforth
powerfulanimals.Anybeastsummonedor
createdbyyourspellsgainstwobenefits.Itshit
pointmaximumincreasesby2perHitDie,and
thedamagefromitsnaturalweaponsis
consideredmagicalforthepurposeof
overcomingimmunityandresistanceto
nonmagicalattacksanddamage.
GuardianSpirit
At10thlevel,yougaintheservicesofaspirit
thatwatchesoveryouandprotectsyoufrom
harm.Wheneveryoufinishalongrest,yougain
thebenefitsofadeathwardspell.Thespell’s
durationisextendedto24hours.
FaithfulSummons
Startingat14thlevel,thebestialspiritsyou
communewithprotectyouwhenyouare
vulnerable.Ifyouarereducedto0hitpointsor
areincapacitatedagainstyourwill,youcan
immediatelygainthebenefitsofconjureanimals
asifitwascastwitha9th-levelspellslot.It
summonsfourbeastsofyourchoicethatare
challengerating2orlower.Theconjuredbeasts
appearwithin20feetofyou.Iftheyreceiveno
commandsfromyou,theyprotectyoufrom
harmandattackyourfoes.Thespelllastsfor1
hour.
Onceyouusethisfeature,youcan’tuseitagain
untilyoufinishalongrest.
CircleofTwilight
TheCircleofTwilightseekstoexterminate
undeadcreaturesandpreservethenaturalcycle
oflifeanddeaththatrulesoverthecosmos.
Theirmagicallowsthemtomanipulatethe
boundarybetweenlifeanddeath,sendingtheir
foestotheirfinalrestwhilekeepingtheirallies
fromthatfate.
Thesedruidsseekoutlandsthathavebeen
taintedbyundeath.Suchplacesaregrimand
foreboding.Oncevibrantforestsbecomegloomy,
hauntedplacesdevoidofanimalsandfilledwith
plantsdyingaslow,lingeringdeath.TheCircleof

andrestorelife.
Harvest’sScythe
Startingat2ndlevel,youlearntounraveland
harvestthelifeenergyofothercreatures.You
canaugmentyourspellstodrainthelifeforce
fromcreatures.Youhaveapoolofenergy
representedbyanumberofd10sequaltoyour
druidlevel.
Whenyourolldamageforaspell,youcan
increasethatdamagebyspendingdicefromthe
pool.Youcanspendanumberofdiceequalto
halfyourdruidlevelorless.Rollthespentdice
andaddthemtothedamageasnecroticdamage.
Ifyoukilloneormorehostilecreatureswitha
spellaugmentedinthisway,youoranallyof
yourchoicethatyoucanseewithin30feetof
youregains2hitpointsperdiespenttoincrease
thespell’sdamage,or5hitpointsperdieifat
leastoneoftheslaincreatureswasundead.
Youregaintheexpendeddicewhenyoufinish
alongrest.
SpeechBeyondtheGrave
At6thlevel,yougaintheabilitytoreachbeyond
death’sveilinsearchofknowledge.Usingthis
feature,youcancastspeakwithdeadwithout
materialcomponents,andyouunderstandwhat
thetargetofthiscastingsays.Itcanunderstand
yourquestions,evenifyoudon’tsharea
languageoritisnotintelligentenoughtospeak.
Onceyouusethisfeature,youcan’tuseitagain
untilyoufinishashortorlongrest.
WatcherattheThreshold
At10thlevel,yougainresistancetonecroticand
radiantdamage.Inaddition,whileyouaren’t
incapacitated,anyallywithin30feetofyouhas
advantageondeathsavingthrows.
PathsoftheDead
At14thlevel,yourmasteryofdeathallowsyou
totreadthepathsusedbyghostsandother
spirits.Usingthisfeature,youcancast
etherealness.Oncethespellends,youcan’tcastit
withthisfeatureagainuntilyoufinishashortor
longrest.

BeastShapestableinthatbook.
Theoptionalrulepresentedhereisdesigned
fortheplayerandDMwhowouldliketotrade
someofthatflexibilityforeaseofuse.Therules
herealsocreateaclearin-worldmethodfor
learningnewbeastshapes.

ofyourchoiceandcantransformintothem.

exoticcritterthatyouwanttoturninto?This
rulegivesyouamethodforlearninghowtodo
so.Itrequiresyoutoabidebythelimitationsin
theWildShapefeature(seetheBeastShapes
tableinthePlayer’sHandbook,page66).
Whenyouseeabeastwhoseshapeyou’dlike
tolearn,youhavetwooptions:
Observation.Youlearnthebeast’sshapeafter
observingitsbehaviorforatleast1hourand
succeedingonanIntelligence(Nature)check
withaDCequalto10+thebeast’schallenge
rating.Forthisobservationperiod,your
vantagepoint—whetherphysicalormagical—
mustbewithin150feetofthebeast.Ifyou
previouslyspentatleast1hourreadinga
scholarlyworkaboutthecreature,youhave
advantageonthecheck.
Interaction.Youlearnthebeast’sshapeafter
interactingwithitpeacefullyfor10minutes
andsucceedingonaWisdom(Animal
Handling)checkwithaDCequalto10+the
beast’schallengerating.Forthisinteraction
period,youmustbewithin15feetofthebeast,
andifyouspendatleastaminutepettingit,
youhaveadvantageonthecheck.
Eitheroftheseoptionscanbeassistedbymagic.
Forexample,divinationmagiccanbeusedto
providesafeobservationofadangerousanimal,
andaspelllikeanimalfriendshipcanlaythe
groundworkforpeacefulinteraction.
