READ ME FIRST – HOW TO SETUP THE USB CABLE

This BMW USB cable can be setup on any laptop running windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.

1. Put the DVD into the DVD drive on your PC.
2. Plug in the cable into a USB port on your computer. If your computer is connected to the

internet it should automatically search and install in the USB cable drivers. If prompted
just following the on screen prompts. If your computer does NOT automatically detect
the cable then open the ‘USB ODB DRIVER’ folder and run

3. Go to Control Panel > System > Then click on the hardware tab.
4. Then click on Device Manager
5. Now locate your serial connection in the ports section of device manager. It should read

‘USB Serial Port (COMX).

6. Right click on the serial port and select ‘Properties’
7. Click on the ‘Port Settings’ Tab and then click on ‘Advanced’

8. Change the ‘COM Port Number:’ to COM1 and the ‘Latency Timer (msec): to 1.

9. Click on ‘OK’ and close all the windows
10. Restart PC to confirm all the changes
11. Your cable is installed.
12. For installation of the software go to page 6 of the pdf installation guide. This is located in

the ‘Installation Procedure Folder’ . Note you install this at your own risk.

IMPORTANT: COM1 will stay on the same USB port your installed the driver into so it is important
that the USB PLUG MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE SAME USB PORT TO RETAIN ITS SETTINGS.
