The Colosseum was built in the days of ancient Rome
as a facility for competitions and entertainment. It was lion

The word "Colosseum" comes from the Latin word

colosseus, meaning "huge" or "colossal." It is said that
the Colosseum was sometimes filled with water
brought from a lake and used to stage mock naval
battles.
